Make It Colourful - Black and White with a Dash of Red

We have a fun challenge at Make It Colourful this week - black and white with a dash of red. We're sponsored this week by Tiddly Inks.

For me, Make It Crafty's Ginger the Housewife and the Kitchen wall just screamed at me for this challenge. I wanted to create a black and white kitchen and put Ginger in a red dress. I merged the images and added a sentiment and printed them out on Make It Crafty paper. I used the C- series of grey copics and R29, 27 and 24 for her red dress.

I also played with the Make It Crafty Swirly Corners. I've never played with something like these before. I decided to coat them with silver glitter glue and I really like the effect. I liked them so much I used them on the inside too!

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
1. Top Tip Tuesday #31 - squares
2. Party Time Tuesdays #13 - anything goes
3. Simon Says - anything goes

Spring Cards

I have two cards for you today, but before I share I want to remind you that you still have a week to enter the recipe challenge at The Latte Lounge. The recipe is 1 image, 2 ribbons, and 3 papers. The sponsor is The Stamping Boutique and the winner will receive 2 images of their choice.

I have two cards to share today, neither of which use the recipe! It's too easy for me to get distracted in the craft room : )

My first card features Tickled Pink's 60's Willow. I thought she'd be perfect for a spring card. I printed her on Make It Colour Blending Paper. As I'm getting into coloring more, I'm appreciating the importance of the right paper. It's so nice to have a paper that doesn't bleed when I color! I colored her with Copics. The papers are from DCWV's Citrus Stack. I got some spring flowers at Michaels that were on sale after Easter. I added a vellum sentiment from my stash and rhinestones.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
1. Tickled Pink #16 - spring
2. Paperplay #16 - Easter/Spring
3. Pixie Dust Studio #71 - Spring Forward
4. Creative Cowgirls - happy spring
5. Fussy and Fancy - springtime

This card is all about freebies. The papers and sentiments (check out the inside below) are from Crafter's Companion. They were free to download over Easter weekend. The image is a freebie from Prairie Fairy, I think. That's where I had it filed, but I couldn't find it in the shop, so I'm not positive. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I printed the image on Make It Colour Blending Paper and colored it with Copics. I have enough yellows I could have two colors of ducks. I'm so excited! I tried making the grass using dots, and I'm really pleased with the effect. I added yellow glitter to the happy large flower.

I'd like to enter this card in the following
challenges:
1. Prairie Fairy Fridays #51 - April Showers bring May Flowers
3. Fresh Brewed #43 - shine and sparkle
5. Paper Sundaes #66 - Sundae Bar - I used yellow, pearls, and sparkle.

Asian Travel Journal

Here's my second big project as promised. This one is an Asian themed travel journal. I really love the Bon Voyage Tildas, particularly the Asian inspired ones. I got a journal from Michael's and went to town.

I'll start with the front cover where I used Japanese Tilda stamped on Cryogen White. I colored her with Copics. I followed the sketch at Just Magnolia #103. Since it's a journal, I didn't want to have too much on the cover that could fall off, so I embellished with some stickers.

On the inside front cover I used Indian Tilda and the sketch this week at Magnolia Down Under #93. I used some travel die cuts and buttons to embellish the page. The paper is from DCWV's Citrus Stack, a recent acquisition. On the first page, there's a tag with space to detail the trip. I added pocket pages throughout the journal, but I didn't include pictures here.

On the inside back cover, I used Chinese Tilda and the sketch from IC Sketches #111. On a side note, they have a fantastic blog hop going on. The sentiment behind Tilda says "A travel adventure has no substitute. It is the ultimate experience, your one big opportunity for flair."

Here's the back cover. I fell in love with the Japanese set from Prairie Fairy and had to get them. I replaced the drawn strings with baker's twine.

I'd like to enter this project in the following challenges (other than the sketches in the text above):
1. Digis with Attitude #23 - Asian theme
2. The Crafty Pad #118 - circles - two of the images are cut with circles, the parasol is a circle, and the lamps are circular.

Wedding Memories Book

I was busy in the craft room yesterday. I wanted to try some new things and some new papers. I have two projects to show. I'm going to show the first one in this post and then the next one in the next post 'cause I can't wait to share when I get things done!

This project is a wedding journal/memory book. I was inspired by Carrie's brag book. All of the papers in this project are JLJ Designs and they're available in my Artfire Store.

The cover features Cherrie with Rose from Tickled Pink Stamps. I stamped her on Cryogen White paper, which I like much more than the basic cardstock I had been using. I colored her with Copics. I followed the Tickled Pink guest designer call sketch and I'm entering her for that challenge. Boy would that be a dream come true - keep your fingers crossed for me! I added some Valentine's embellies to finish the front - including a rub-on from the darling Melissa!

Much of the inspiration for this project came from The Stamping Boutique Scrapbook News and Review Group's Royal Wedding weekend challenges. It's not too late to get one of the great freebies! Challenge #3 is red, white, and blue and that's perfect for the next page in my book. I featured The Stamping Boutique's Flower Cart. I love this image in red, white, and blue. I put a black and white version in the corner of the journal page as well. This page is also entered in the C.R.A.F.T. Challenge #99 flowers.

The next page has an envelope pocket and a journal page. I used balloons from The Stamping Boutique's Birthday Set. I took inspiration from Royal Wedding Challenge #2 Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue. My something old and blue is the digi paper that I used and my something new is the balloon digi. I colored the images with crayons that I borrowed from Peanut : )

The next page features AJ the Groom and Bride Audrey, which were very generous freebies for the Royal Wedding weekend. I colored them with Copics.

Here's a pocket page for keepsakes.

The next page is to journal about the ceremony. I used Church Background to create a background on the left page. This was my first attempt at Annika's sky coloring technique. It's much darker than I would like because I don't have any pale blue Copics. However, I think it has a neat stained glass effect.

The next page is blank to place a picture and has another pocket page:

The last page is all about the reception. This week at Farm Fresh Challenge it's all about the digital. I used The Greeting Farm's 50s Sweetheart Digi. I think they're all about partying!
So, that's the whole book! I'm glad you hung in with me to the end. I'd like to enter the whole project in the following challenges:
1. Crafty Cardmakers #44 - royal wedding
2. Fab 'n Funky #69 - here comes the bride
4. Creative Inspirations #58 - digi day - these are all digi images and papers!

Peanut's napping now, so I'm off to the craft room. I'll be back later with my other big project.

Make It Colourful - Black Hair Challenge

This week's challenge at Make It Colourful is sponsored by Some Odd Girl. The challenge is coloring black hair.

I like coloring black hair. It seems to be one of the easier hair color sets for me. I used Momma Mae and colored her hair with Copics C9, C7, C5. I used Wild Flowers from Make It Crafty for a background. I merged the images in Photoshop Elements. It was surprisingly easy! I decided to go with something different this week and used a journal that I'd found in the Michaels dollar bin. I thought this would be pretty for a pregnancy journal
Here's a close-up of the images.

We have a new challenge at The Latte Lounge - this time a recipe. The recipe is one image, two ribbons and three papers. You can add your own "spices" as long as you have the basic ingredients.

The sponsor for this challenge is The Stamping Boutique and I've used Audrey in the Rain for my card. The winner of the challenge will receive two images! I used two yellow papers and one pink paper. There's a wide wavy yellow ribbon under the flowers and pink ribbon for the tags. I colored Audrey with Copics. I got some new pinks and I've been playing with them.

Sweet Cordelia at Make It Crafty

Zoe has something sweet and cute at Make it Crafty. She's Cordelia and she's on sale until Wednesday for only $2 (Aus). I don't know if other US folks realize this, but the conversion rate is about 1 to 1, so she's only $2.11 US. You'll want to have this wonderful girl in you collection.
Zoe generously gave the DT Cordelia to play with. I wanted to go with beachy colors so I used aqua and pink. For some reason, her hair screamed out black to me. So I tried that with an attempt at making some regions appear to shine. The paper is from Black and Turquoise by JLJ Designs.

I'm hardly waiting for my Make It Colour Blending Paper to arrive. When I first started coloring, I couldn't figure out what the big deal with paper was. I buy #110 cardstock from Office Depot by the ream. Now that I'm really trying to work on my coloring, I'm getting frustrated by the way the paper bleeds and can be hard to blend. Time to start looking at more papers!

Two Projects

I spent most of this weekend at a craft show and uploading products into my new Artfire Store (more about that later), so I haven't had much time to play.

I did get out some of my newer Magnolias to make this notecard set. For the front, I used Tilda as a Butterfly and I colored her with Copics. I got some new Copics and I've been working on coloring with a brighter pink. I used baker's twine and a green flower ribbon to frame the image. The paper is Basic Grey.

On the inside I used Mini Dragonfly Tilda stamped in
sepia ink with blue/white baker's twine and a green flower button. I made a pocket to hold 8 mini notecards.

I'd like to enter this project in the following challenges:
1. Magnolia-licious Highlights Spring Extravaganza #4 - mix a regular and mini Tilda
2. Top Tip Tuesday #29 - Spring has Sprung
3. Basic Grey #42 - Easter/Spring

The Tickled Pink Facebook challenge this month is to make a post-it note holder. Jess very nicely provided an easy to follow Tutorial. I used Lil Lad Eric and Basic Grey paper. I colored Eric using Copics.

I'd like to enter this project in the following challenges:
2. Papercutz #87 - Buttons and bows

This post is going to be long so settle in. I have several cards to share from our digi day.

Tonight we had our monthly digi day at The Latte Lounge. First, I'd like to thank the game sponsors. We always have a great time during the chat and one of my favorite parts is the games. They wouldn't be possible without our fabulous sponsors. I'm going to list sponsors and challenges in the order they were featured in during our chat. All challenges are open until 11:59 pm on Wednesday.
Thank you to our game sponsors! You guys make digi day chats extra fun!

Our first challenge is a sketch challenge with Stacie. The challenge is sponsored by Fresh Brewed Designs and the winner will receive three digis of the winners choice.

Heather created three special school images for us! I used Angel Cake School Day to create this card, where I rotated the sketch. I wanted to use bright colors for this kid's card.

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
1. Simon Says Stamp - Card for a Child
2. Fussy and Fancy - Card for a Child

Rhonda has a great challenge to make a teacher gift (an anything but a card challenge). This challenge is sponsored by In a Scrap Creations and the prize is the fabulous package below.

Here's my project. I used one of the sentiments from In a Scrap. I folded a 12x12 sheet of Basic Grey paper to fold a double pocket bag using a tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers. The notecards and pen are from Michaels.

My challenge for digi day is "A Princess Can Be Anything She Wants." The sponsor is The Stamping Boutique and the winner will receive 2 digi stamps of their choice.

My card features Lattes for Two. Princesses can be mommies too! I colored the image with Copics and used papers from a Cardmaking and Papercraft freebie. I added two kinds of purple ribbon and finished the ends with flowers.

Finally, Sara has a Summer Break Challenge. It's sponsored by Stitchy Bear Stamps and the prize is a $10 gift certificate.

Here's my card using Summer Shades from Stitchy Bear Stamps. I colored her with Copics and then used a simple design to highlight this cutie.

TLL Color Challenge

Today, Melissa has a new challenge for us at The Latte Lounge, sponsored by yours truly. It's a color challenge featuring a new paper pack - Black and Turquoise. Can you guess the color theme?

Here's my card using the Black and Turquoise paper pack. I wanted to make a bon voyage card to go with a travel journal I'm working on (this may take me a while). I colored Tilda with Copics. I used the sketch at Just Magnolia. I used travel stickers for embellishment.

Don't forget to enter my blog candy. There's a special candy for the kids!
